For over 15 years, Jagadeesh N Hanchinal has been a driving force in transforming the lives of rural and semi-urban youth through education and skill development. His journey began with a simple yet powerful belief: every young individual, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to unlock their potential and build a sustainable future.

But this commitment to educational equity wasn’t born from theory or research—it emerged from the raw reality of his own childhood struggles in a rural government school, where a simple language barrier nearly derailed his dreams and shaped the trajectory of his entire life.

This personal challenge became the lens through which Jagadeesh viewed the broader educational landscape. As he observed the systemic gaps in India’s hinterlands, he saw his own story reflected in countless other young faces. Despite their talent and aspirations, rural youth faced barriers—limited access to quality education, lack of employable skills, and low confidence—that trapped them in cycles of poverty.

But where others saw insurmountable challenges, Jagadeesh saw opportunity. His approach was revolutionary: instead of working around the system, he would work within it to transform it from the ground up. He dedicated his career to designing scalable interventions that combine education, skill training, and mentorship—ensuring that language would never again become a barrier to a child’s dreams.

“Through Jnanakeerti Foundation,” he explains, “I aim to address this gap by building confidence, communication skills, and life skills among students in government schools. Every program we design, every intervention we implement, is guided by one simple principle: no child should face the barriers I faced.”

The results speak for themselves. His relentless efforts have directly impacted over 14,000 youth, equipping them with skills for sustainable careers and aligning his work with the Sustainable Development Goals. By forging partnerships with more than 100 colleges, he revolutionized employability programs, ensuring rural youth could compete in a rapidly evolving job market.

His expertise in program development, execution excellence, and team building has been instrumental in creating models that are both innovative and replicable. Today, the Skill in Village (SIV) program stands as a testament to what’s possible when personal experience meets systematic change, when one person’s struggle becomes the foundation for thousands of success stories.
